Todd Seattle Division Lays Keel For Royal Australian Navy Frigate

Significant events occurred with keel-laying for the HMAS Adelaide at Todd Shipyards Corporation, Seattle Division, on July 29. This will be the first of two guided missile frigates (FFG-7 Class) which are being built especially for the Royal Australian Navy.

Meyer Retires As Deputy Commander At NAVSEA

Rear Adm. Wayne E. Meyer, a leader in the development of the U.S. Navy's revolutionary Aegis weapons system, retired recently after 42 years of Naval service. His last assignment was a deputy commander for weapons and combat systems at the Naval Sea Systems Command.

Ingalls Christens Aegis Stethem, Commissions Aegis Stout

The U.S. Navy's newest Aegis guided missile destroyer was christened Stethem at Ingalls Shipbuilding Division of Litton Industries. The new ship, DDG 63, is named in honor of Petty Officer Robert Dean Stethem, USN, (1961- 1985). The ship's sponsor was Petty Officer Stethem's mother,
